Biography
The Bark Stops Here is branching out to offer in-home parrot behavior and care consultations. Having lived with twenty-one parrots over the past forty-three years, my passion for parrots is second only to my love of dogs.
Parrots typically live in five homes during their lifetime. Longevity, plus behaviors like excessive screaming and biting, contributes to these highly intelligent birds being bounced about so often. Most of my own parrots were rescued.
As a fulltime Dog Trainer/Behavior Therapist since 1980, I have helped many thousands of dogs and their people better understand one another. I have also studied wild wolves, monkeys and chimpanzees, and recognize that the same principles govern all behaviors, including our own.

Companion parrots retain all of their feral drives and must traverse two cultures to survive. FOR THE BIRDS fuses lessons learned studying wildlife in the field and those learned at home with my own birds. After taking a thorough history, I will observe your parrot’s interaction with the family and then prescribe a practical course of action that honors all participants. Positive reinforcement, only, is used. A personalized write-up will be emailed following each session. And because I am new to parrot consultations, if I feel unqualified to address your concerns, I will so say before it costs you a dime.
